THE 1966 YAN - TAT EDITED by the SENIOR CLASS of BARTLETT YANCEY HIGH SCHOOL Yanceyville, North Carolina THE FOREWORD Time is a sort of river of passing events, and strong is its current; no sooner is a thing brought to sight than it is swept by and another takes its place, and this too will be swept away. It is with joyous spirit that we, the annual staff, have prepared this nineteen hundred and sixty-six edition of the Yan-Tat. It is our hope that the many memorable events of our past school year will be eternally preserved in the pages of this book, so that neither time nor trials may rob you of your remembrances. Foster As we near the end of our high school days, we look back to see that many have played a part in our development. One we remember especially for his friendly smile and warm sense of humor. His genuine interest and willingness to listen to our problems have been a source of encouragement and comfort. For this reason, we, the SENIOR CLASS OF 1966, proudly dedicate our annual to Mr. J. D. The Future Farmers of America of F. F.A. as it is commonly called is a national organization for urban and farm boys from 14 to 21 years of age. It was or¬ ganized in 1928 by some devoted agriculture teachers who felt that farm boys needed more than just learning how to farm. Since then it has become one of the greatest organizations for boys in the world. It not only has an active membership in the U. S. , but in Puerto Rico also. The primary aim of the F. F.A. is to develop ag¬ gressive, competent leadership. No time in our nation ' s history has the need been so great. The F. F. A. is a natural and practical program which believes in having by doing. The purpose of a school paper is to publish the news and events of student and school life. It may also be a springboard for those students who will pursue careers in journalism or allied fields, where it helps to know how to write clearly and concisely. The school newspaper reflects the kind of school it represents. The Father ' s house is mansioned fair beyond our vision dim; All souls are His, and here or there are living unto Him. And still their silent ministries within our hearts have place, As when on earth they walked with us and met us face to face. Ours are they by an ownership nor time nor death can free; For God hath given to love to keep its own eternally. Frederick L.
