The last game was played on that date at Cobb and was lost by 5 points. The score was 25-20, The lost game was not the cause for the sadness, however, but the fact that the team was losing four of its players for good--Bradner, Buttz, Whitlow and J. Watlington, Mary Wilma Watlington was high scorer for the year, Totals were as follows: M. Watlington 62 H. Mise 58 L. Bradner 42 J. Thompson 38 B. Swicegood 27 J. Watlington 29 E. Worsham 13 Of the fifteen games played during the season, five were won. Most of the players were playing for their first time this year. What was not made in scores was made up for in the fun and enthusiasm ex¬ hibited by team members. Wo wish to express our deepest appreciation to Mrs. J. E. Zimmerman for the devoted attention and cos ing she has given us in all of our game-s. We can look back with a pleasant memory to the happy days we spent together playing basketball. We can always remember with pride how we played our best for the honor of our school, Bartlett Yancey High. ,oh- % •-OYS BASKETBALL TSAK Di wey ' .vlc ' yoorl.....-aptan Charles Fowlkes.3o-Capt Thacker Jarter. .Forward . Y, H. S, baseball team. With the help of the Senior Class and the local chapter of the Future Farmers of America new suits wore obtained. These suits served not only as a mode of dress but aroused new school spirit and teamwork on the p art of the players, Though suits helped, they could not have provided the sole motivation for a victorious team The players will long remember another all important factor contributing to victory and that -the fine coaching of Mr, N S, Upchurch and Mr, R. E, Sadler. Although the team did lose the two exhibition games played, when the regular rolled around it was in ex¬ cellent form, and made a fine show. The first game on the schedule called for Prospect Hill on the local diamond, and this game was the s tart of a seven game winning stretch for the team of B 0 Y, H, S e The pitching has been well supported by the team ' s superior hitting power which has been shown at the plate. The leading hitter of the year was A, Kimbro with the fat average of 520. Other regular players hitting above the 300 bracket were Hunter Lunsford, Mack Willis, C, Kimbro, and Max Smitho The pitching record and scores of games played up to dote are as follows: B. B. B. B.
