CAPTAIN MALCOLM W. CHASE United States Navy Captain Malcolm W. Chase, USN, was born in Rutland, Vermont February 23, 1939. Upon gradu- ation from Rutland High School, he entered the U.S. Naval Academy and was graduated with the class of 1961. Upon receiving his commission as an Ensign, he reported to the destroyer USS DAVIS IDD-9375 for an 18 month tour in the Gunnery Department, then to Destroyer School and to duty as Engineer Officer of USS MITSCHER IDL-23. In 1964, CAPT. Chase entered the Surface Nucle- ar Power Program with training in Bainbridge, MD and West Milton, NY, followed by duty on the pre- commissioning crew of USS SCHOFIELD IDEG-35 as Engineer Officer, and Operations Officer of USS LYNDE MCCORMICK QDDG-81. In 1968, he reported to USS BAINBRIDGE QDLGN-251 for duty as Main Propulsion Assistant. Following a two year tour at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterrey, where he earned a Master of Science degree in Operations Research, Captain Chase served in USS KING IDLG- 1OJ as Executive Officer, until her decommissioning for modernization. A short tour on the Staff of Commander Naval Air Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet was followed by duty as Excecutive Officer of USS CALIFORNIA CCGN-361 from February 1976 until July 1978. CAPT. Chase reported to USS BARRY IDD-9331 after serving as the Senior Member, COMNAVAIRPACICOMNAV- SURFPAC Nuclear Propulsion Mobile Training Team. CAPT. Chase has been awarded two Navy Com- mendation medals and is entitled to wear several campaign and expeditionary medals. CAPT. Chase is married to the former Lorn L. Brown of Rutland, Vermont. They have a daughter, Catherine, 16 and a son Brian, 13. Their home is in San Diego, California.

LCDR Tinsley is a fourth generationnaval officer graduating from the U.S. Naval Academy on O4 June 1969. Upon graduation LCDR Tinsley reported to USS TAUSSIG QDD-7463 for duty as Combat information Officer. Upon detachment in December 1970, LCDR Tinsley reported to Commander Destroyer Division 32 until detach- ment in April 1971 whereupon he reported to Schools Command, Coronado, CA. Upon completion of course of instruction, LCDR Tinsley reported to Defense Language Institute School at Fort Bliss, TX where he studied Vietnamese. ln April 1972, LCDR Tinsley reported to U.S. Military Advisory Command, Vietnam, Saigon. Upon completion of duties LCDR Tinsley reported to USS LUCE QDDG-385 in February 1973 where he served as First Lieutenant and as ASW Officer. Upon detachment in March 1975, LCDR Tinsley attended SWOS Department Head School in Newport, Fi.l. before transferring to USS JOHN KING QDDG-31 where he served as Weapons Officer form March 1976 until January 1978. Detaching from USS JOHN KING, LCDR Tinsley headed for Italy for duty with Headquarters, AF SOUTH, Naples, where he worked with Staff Operations and Plans. Completing his assigned dutires, LCDR Tinsley reported onboard BARRY for duty as Executive Officer in July 1981. LCDR Tinsley is married to the former Joan S. HETTENHOUSER of Washington D.C.
