Koper is a small port town located along the northern border of Slovenia, a young nation formerly part of Yugoslavia. BARRYs visit to Koper was politically significant, educa- tional, and entertaining for the entire crew. In addition to hosting several shipboard social functions, including a reception for the Prime Min- ister, sailors enjoyed dining in local restaurants, visiting nearby Trieste and Venice, and participating in the MWR sponsored Adopt-a- Sailor program.
