4 Football Briefs Although its record of 3 win's and 6 losses was not an impressive one, the Eagles had a successful season as far as steady team improvement was concerned. ln the opening game with South Kingstown, Blackinton, Gabarra, Tracy, Bianco, and Ter- pak put up a valiant fight, but their efforts were in vain. A last minute touchdown by John Pflug enabled the team to stop North Providence 8-6 in the second league game. Strengthened by the efforts of Karl Christ, the team put up a good fight but lost a one touchdown decision to East Greenwich. A fractured collarbone which he sustained in this tilt took Tom Terpak out of play for the remainder of the season. Excellent performances by Fred Blackinton and Irv Tracy highlighted the team's easy win over Pawtucket Vocational. In dropping the next two games to North Kingstown and Warren, the team fought hard but just didn't seem to have what it takes. Against an exceptionally strong Burrill- ville team, the Eagles got off to a very poor start and trailed 28-0 at the half. The team rallied in the second half, however, and was able to roll up a score of 13 points. Fred Blackinton was outstanding both offensively and defensively. On Thanksgiving Day, Barrington exhibited its best effort of the season as it bowed to Bristol, the league champions.
