V 1 f ropli ropnecy It was a bright day in May, 1963, at the train terminal when we heard the conductor call, all aboard, all aboard. A couple of late passengers clambered aboard the train Destination Future and we were on our way. I had taken the last empty seat without paying any attention to anyone; I began to read my newspaper. An article struck my eye I Leo Clerkin, the Texas Millionaire, buys another ranch to add to his col- lection. I realized I had been reading out loud when the man across the .. aisle, caught my attention and said that he had graduated with the class Leo was in. And much to my surprise it was Dan Williams. He said he was coach at Barneveld High School and he was just on his way to look over the Rose Bowl prospects for his team. We exchanged news and soon both of us knew what the Class of 1953 was doing. Rush Watson is a millionaire. When he isn't busy running the Capital Theater, which he owns, he is in his mansion. Elroy Miller is living at Mazomarde, so if you ever drive through Mazo, stop at Miller' s Garage. Dave Arnold is a sailor boy but he spends most of his leaves at Dodgeville instead of Barneveld. Howard Theobald runs his father's farm and is married to a young girl from Hollandale. Blaine Bunbury has his own meat market Bunbury's Fine Meats. He can't decide where he wants to spend his nights. v. ers still rims the filling station and is raising boys so he will have help later on. 3- He says he is going to All his earnings are Gary Massey is running his dad's farm, have a cook one of these days. Vernon Frame is a doctor in Barneveld. saved to build a new hospital. I guess that takes care of the boys. Now let's see if we can inciso. g Were S° We’n be able to see what they a e do- Marie Brattlie, oh yes, she still manages to get to all those Hollandale dances even though she works at the Farmer' s Mutual Insur- ance Company in Madison. Charlotte Frame finished secretarial school and is married to her boss, owner of Max Factor Make-Up Corporation. Carole Burreson is on the Arthur Murray Staff. Arthur Murray thought that she was such a fine dancer that he retired and let Carole take over the business. Ethel Owens is a dietitian at the Madison General Hospital. She still has steady visitors from Arena. Mary Grimstad was a model at Manchester' s but just a few days ago won the modeling contest and will now appear on the cover of The Country Wife magazine. Margie Grimstad is married to a filling station operator and lives in a big white house in Barneveld. Carole Boe is the head nurse at the Frame Hospital. Her biggest problem now is to help Doc Frame draw the plans for the new hospital. Our train was due to reach its destination very soon, so this concluded our visit about the Senior Class of 1953

 On February 6, the Barneveld High School Gymnasium was crowded with spectators who witnessed victory of our A and B teams over Hollandale. Shirley Ash, a cheerleader, introduced the queen, and her court. The queen was crowned with a band of white roses by Arlene Larson. a Donna Myers and Donnie Paulson were crown bearers. Queen Margie Grimstad and King Billy Myers led the Grand March at 11:00. The court of honor followed with their escorts who were: Carole Jean Burreson and Blaine Bunbury, Lucille Peterson and Tom Frame, Norene Reuter and Leo Clerkin, Monica Ryan and Pat McSherry. Dan Garson furnished the music for the evening. This successful event was sponsored by the Senior Class. CL Witt We, the Senior Class of Barneveld High School, in the County of Iowa, being of sound mind and memory, and after many long hours of study do make this, our last will and testament. Leo Clerkin hands his height to Dick Moyer so that Dick won't have to look up to everyone. Charlotte Frame gives her muscles to Helen Meyer as Helen plans to be a future wrestler. Vernon Frame wills his ability to drive in Steward Park to anyone who wants it. Margie Grimstad wills her love for Oldsmobiles to Lois Dougherty. Mary Grimstad wills her twin sister to a certain graduating boy. Gary Massey bequeaths his freckles to Shirley Ash. Elroy Miller wills his trips to Mazo to Gerald Cork. Billy Myers gives his curly hair to Jim or Joe Owens. Ethel Owens bequeaths her long legs to Marian Meyer. Howard Theobald gives his quietness to Mary Enloe. Rush Watson wills his ability to carry on a conversation to Douglas Carden. Danny Williams leaves his dating ability to anyone who wants it. e

jt unior 6 ROW ONE: Mrs. Punzel, Billy Brennan, Helen Zepplin, Ronnie Bunbury, Shirley Ash, Dale Olson, Mary Enloe, Tom Clerkin, Allen Henry, Mary Ann Ryan, Fred Segebrecht. ROW TWO: Tom Frame, Donna Walstad, Lucille Peterson, Alice Campbell, Pete Trainor, Helen Meyer, Harvey Theobald, Audrey Owens,Anna Mae Arndt, Norita Eveland. ROW THREE: Dick Moyer, Shirley Moyer, Jerry Blaser, Tom Duesler, Gerald Cork, Franklyn Erickson, Reginald Brattlie, Douglas Carden, Margreth Hosking. As we returned to Barneveld High on September 5,1952, we found that our class enrollment was down to twenty-nine. We lost Tom Watkins to Beaver Dam, Alan Hixson to Monroe, Evelyn Meili to Dodgeville, and Ethel Erickson is at home; while Mary Enloe came from Mt. Horeb and Allen Henry from Dodgeville . The Juniors were very active in extra-curricular activities as well as academic achievements. We had eight boys on the football squad, seven boys on the basketball team and a total of seven Letter Men in our midst. Six junior girls were cheerleaders and we had many students in the band and chorus and on the newspaper staff. Lucille Peterson was chosen to represent our class on the court of honor for Homecoming this year. One of the highlights this year was the initiating of those be- loved freshmen. We all had a lot of fun and believe it or not, although they had a pretty rough time, they all pulled through. Next came our class play Glamor Boy which was a big success. Then that long waited day arrived when we received our class rings. Our last and greatest highlight came on April 2b, when we presented our prom with music by Monty Hacker and his orchestra. For our class officers we elected: Bill Brennan, President; Reginald Brattlie, Vice President; Mary Ann Ryan, Secretary; Douglas Carden, Treasurer; Tom Clerkin, Student Council; Margreth Hosking, Class Reporter; and Mrs, Punzel, our class advisor: Next year we will be back for our last and final round of ambition at Barneveld Union Free High School. 10
