We were seated in the first coach of the Train of Time watching the people mill around the terminal. We were going on a small trip, beginning in September, 19 9, and were headed for the Future in May, 19?3 There were many stops along the way to enlighten our trip. On our first few stops, we could see the graduates of '53 as twenty-six green and eager Freshmen traveling along, under the leader- ship of Mr. Strand, through their first year at B. U. F. H. S. On October 4-, they were initiated and survived without any casualties, so they became full-pledged high school students. In December they treat- ed the rest of the students at a Christmas Party. When promoted to the second coach, their next set of stops was during the Sophomore year. Mr. McCloskey was the conductor that year. The students were pretty well acquainted by then so it was a year filled with academic achievements along with many extra-curricular activities. In November, they planned a Halloween Party for the student body. Before the year was up five classmates were lost, namely: Vernon Christenson, Charles Ryman, Irene Week, Ralph Peterson, and Harold Cushman. Every set of stops seemed to multiply. This time there were quite a few because the Junior year was a busy one. Only sixteen members returned (a loss of five more: Abigail Sawle, Delores Rolstad, Leone Retrum, Jane Klusendorf, and Kay Rowan). Mrs. Monnier sat in the conductor's seat while in the third coach. October was the month in which they got revenge. It was initiation time. They thought they were pretty easy on the Freshmen, but the Freshmen didn't think so. November I'+j they were really upperclassmen. Their class rings arrived and they were the envy of everyone. On Feb- ruary 1, the Junior Class Play, Return To Bedlam , was presented. Another student, Carole Boe, Joined the class in Marcn to make a total of seventeen members. April +, the Junior Prom, the highlight of the year, was undertaken. The music was by Eddy Lawrence and the theme was Deep Purple . Ethel Owens and Dan Williams were the Royal Couple. Nearing the end of our trip, we just stopped a couple more times before our happy, successful trip was ended. Our conductor that year was Mr. Smith. Senior Class pictures were taken on September 11. February 6 brought the Homecoming Dance, with music by Dan Garson, following a victory ,over Hollandale. The queen and king were Margie Grimstad and Bill Myers. We also had the annual and our Senior Class Play to fill up our spare moments. The month of May was a busy one: Baccalaureate, May 24-; Class Night, May 26; and Commencement Exercises, May 28. We were once again in the train terminal as we completed the trip and everyone went his own way out into the big city of the Future .
