Y-TEENS The Barboursville High School Diversified Coop- erative Training Program and DECA Chapter have doubled in size this year. DCT is the selection of career goals. Subject materials are centered around skills needed for most entry level positions with an emphasis on marketing and distribution. DCT ll is for the second year seniors who are placed in a .- training station and given actual on-the-job training t , '2 in their chosen career area. They receive wages as MAR 4 l well as high school credit for their work. ' UNNF 3m; DECA tDistributive Education Clubs of Amer- ical is also an important element of the program. Through the club, students develop social, vocational and leadership skills necessary for their life in the career world. Students ! ticipate in many activities throughout the school year and attend many workshops and conferences. In November, 24 DECA m bers traveled to Toronto, Canada for a conference on leadership, careers, business, etc. The highlight of the year is the state com tion where members compete against other students from across the state in various career categories. The competition will be at Oglebay Park in Wheeling, WV. Winners will be eligible to compete at the national conference in Anaheim, California. Last y 3 DECA members attended the national conference in Miami Beach, Florida. Many local activities are held throughout the ranging from car washes to bowling parties. Myra Sicili 138
