MEANWI-IILE September found 770 passengers aboard the Pirate ship. The first day of school found the steering committee and the lookout persons attending an all day meeting, learning how to meet the problems which were to arise during the year. New members to the lookout posts were added: Forest Underwood, Mary Ann Stanley, Meriam Cox, and Anna Lou Thompson. Mr. McCarty returned to our ship after a worn voyage on the Good Ship, Florida. During the month of September, the Barboursville Pirates bowed to Charleston, 31-13, bounced over Du Pont, 20-0, downed Williamson, 33-6, were tromped on by Point Pleasant On September 17, the Cabin Crew chose their officers: 5 24-7. Editor was Carol Sharp, Asst. Editor, Sally Taylor. The Latin Club held a square dance. October saw the Wayne Pioneers crushed by the mighty Pirates. Pirate beauty, Judy Diehl, was crowned Homecoming Queen. The Pirates won over Logan, 12-6. The Bucs took Huntington High. Senior Class Color Day was held. The Vo-ag classes attended a F. F. A. conference at Ripley. The Fire Crew chose Miss Beryl Lin- thicum, Fire Chief. Gordon McDermott left our ship to go to Kansas City for a National F. F. A. meeting. Seniors received their first order of rings. First Student Council meeting of the year. Another group of Cabin Crew was organized, called Shorthand Club. Mock elec tion. Eisenhower 3 9 0 Stevenson 29 8 The choral quartet sang at the Vet- erans Hospital.
