BEAVER UNITED STATES NAVY A native of Reno, Nevada, LCDR Beaver graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1977. His sea tours include USS MORTON CDD-9481. Where he served as Boilers Officer, main propulsion assistant, and first lieutenant, USS Mount Vernon CLSD 391 as combat information center officer, USS Tripoli KLPH 105 as propulsion assistant and repair officer, USS Davidson QFF 10455 as Operations Officer, and USS MISSOURI CBB 633 as navigator. He reported to USS Barbour County CLST 11951 as Executive Officer. LCDR Beaver's service ashore has been at landing force training center Pacific. As an embarkation instructor, and department head school in Newport, Rhode Island. LCDR Beaver wears the Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, Navy Unit Commendation, National Defense Service Medal fsecond awardl, Southwest Asia Service Medal with two bronze stars, Battle 'E' Ribbon, and Sea Service Deployment Ribbon. . LCDR Beaver is married to the former Jamison I Short also of Reno. The couple have three children and currently reside in San Diego. COMMANDING OFFICER 1991- COMMANDER JOSEPH B. WILKINSON, JR. A native of New Orleans, Louisiana, Commander Joseph B. Wilkinson, Jr. graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1972. His first tour was aboard the USS BAGLEY CFF 10691, where he served as Gunnery Officer, First Lieutenant, and Naviga- tor. During his tour, USS BAGLEY operated throughout the Pacific and Indian Oceans. From there he went to department Head School in Newport, Rhode Island. He then transferred to the commissioning crew of the USS DAVID R. RAY IDD 9711, where he served as Weapons Officer. Commander Wilkinson received orders to the USS THOMASTON QLSD 281, where he was Operations Officer and again saw duty in the Pacific. Upon request he was then transferred to the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations in Washington where he served as Head, Ship Manpower Requirements. In 1983 he returned to the west coast and reported aboard the USS BELLEAU WOOD CLHA 31 as Combat Systems Officer. From there he was assigned as the Executive Officer of the USS DENVER CLPD 91. His latest assignment was on joint duty with U. S. Central Command in Tampa, Florida, as the Executive Programs Officer. Commander Wilkinson's awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy Commendation Medal, the Navy Achievement Medal and various campaign awards. Subsequent tours of duty were on the USS Samuel Gompers CAD-375 in 1969, USS Saint Paul CCA 731 1969-1970, USS Providence CCLG 6D 1970-1972, Fleet Combat Train- ing Center Pacific instructing personnel on the Naval Tactical Data System 1972-1975, USS Buchanan KDDG 141 1975-1980, a second tour at Fleet Combat Training Center Pacific as the Senior Chief in charge of the Air Intecept Control training school, USS Vincennes KCG 491 1983-1989.
