WestPac Facts Summary BARBEY conducted 30 day and 2 night underway replenishments to meet our commitments. The fuel used in the cruise amounted to 2,316,341 gallons. Traveling roughly 37,000 miles, BARBEYS EPA rating was 61 gallons per mile (the actual fuel economy was much better as many of the above gallons were burned pierside or at anchor. The evaporators produced 1,402,623 gallons of feed water and 1,122,880 gallons of fresh water for 4,302 gallons of fresh water per man. New personnel, food, parts, and mail came aboard during 13 extensive vertical replenishments and 130 helicopter landings. BARBEY was located inport 61 days for 33% of the cruise and underway 122 days, 67% of the cruise, including the 51 days continuous steaming. in the Indian Ocean. During the deployment, BARBEY passed a PMS inspection, became the first ship to g pass a surprise OPPE RECERTIFICATION, earned the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon and the Navy e i Expeditionary Medal and completed a fine record culminating in the Destroyer Squadron Five Battle Efficiency E .
