ootball Under the capable guidance of Coach Gully, the Bar Harbor High football squad managed to compile a record of three wins, three losses and one tie despite numerous injuries. The line plunges of Le- Roy Dyer, Nate King, and Paul Jordan, the back- field trio, aided greatly in the Seasiders' cause. Salisbury handled himself well in the fullback slot. The Bar Harbor line also proved itself helpful in many instances. Special praise goes to the boys who made the Little Ten Conference Team. They are as follows: First team: End, Ray McGarrg Back, Nate King. Second team: Guard, Don Dyer. Honorable mention: Tackle, Dave Shelton, Guard, Sh Hatch, Backs, LeRoy Dyer and Paul Jordan. Games and Results: Bar Harbor Opponent T ie 111- Hampden Won 46 Dover-Foxcroft Won 18 Orono Lost 13 Dexter Won 44- Ellsworth Lost 0 Bucksport Lost 12 Lincoln arsity Basketball The Bar Harbor Varsity Basketball squad was a veteran one with a successful past season and a starting lineup that looked very promising. Coach Ed Gully was again to guide the Seasiders in their cage activities. The first game of the season was played with Mount Desert which was also our first defeat, the score being 4-7-4-3. In the third game of the season played at Brewer we succumbed to the Witches', 50-47. In this game Center Dick Grindle received a knee injury which spelled finis to his basketball career for the remainder of the season. During the Christmas vacation a change in coaches took place with Ken Mansfield replacing Ed Gully. This vacation proved to be a strenuous one for the basketball squad with Mansfield working daily with the team. After defeating Bucksport and Pemelic in successive victories, we then suffered a losing streak in the next three games. While playing John Bapst, Nate King, in attempting to block a shot with a flying tackle suffered an ankle injury and consequently retired to the bench for the remainder of the season. T he games were fast and exciting with plenty of tense moments. Outstanding memories are of LeRoy Dyer battling on the back boards and dropping in the baskets with his two hand set shots. Ken Riddell's snappy, one-hand set shots could be counted upon to raise the score. Don Dyer, as Center never failed to properly harass the opposing pivot until he would roll up those inevitable five fouls. Paul Jordan, ill for several weeks soon got back into stride, his irle 14 21 12 14 0 39 20 Y ability and aggressiveness giving the team a boost. Willie lVlcGarr became the sensation of one of our games with his fast shooting basket-making shots. The other team members, McKay, Wood, Somers, Shelton, Gray, playing when needed, also did a good job. The Asa Wasgatt Memorial Trophy awarded to the player who in the opinion of his team mates has contributed most to the team was awarded to Nate King last year. This year's winner is Ken Riddell. Our season sums up a total of four games won and twelve lost.
