Sharing Emotions, Fun, Am bi tions, Needs We Arrived at Capping 1978 At 7 o'clock in the evening on Friday, May 19, 1978, the capping ceremony for the 1979 graduating class was held at the First Baptist Church of Pleasant Valley. Donna Douglas welcomed the families and guests of the students. The invoca- tion was presented by Chaplain David Covington of Central Baptist Hospital. Dorothy Douglas, anatomy instructor from Henderson State University, presented the address. Shirlene Harris, Director of BSSN, introduced the eighty-four students who had completed the freshman year of their training. Fol- lowing the capping and pinning of the female and male stu- dents respectively, Juanita Straubie closed the ceremony with the benediction. The ceremony was not only beautiful, but also held a special importance to those students involved. The receiving of pins and caps gave these men and women a great sense of accomplishment. It was proof that the first nine months of studying was worth all the effort, plus more. 104
