Eoch yeor thot o student progresses toword groduotion is onother step in the tronsition stoge of life beyond college. Students orrive ot college os Freshmen, full of ideols ond dreoms. They've set gools for themselves ond ore storting the long, often frustroting rood they must trovel to meet these gools. During the yeors those gools will chonge, but most students meet the chollenge heod on. Their noive spirit is reploced by moturity, ond boldness by humility. They reolize whot it's like to ogoin be on the bottom of the totem pole, ond this itself is occepted os o chollenge to strive forword. Sophomores ond Juniors often wonder if they'lI ever finish college. Sophomores suffer through choosing mojors, ond Juniors are distressed ot chonging mojors. Juniors feel os if they're on the other side of the hilI, while Sophomores ore just beginning to climb. The bosic courses ore olmost complete ond the more demonding, but more sotisfying, courses con be token. The responsibilities pile up but so do the emotionol rewords. Seniors spend their lost yeor looking both forword ond bockword. They ore storing up memories for future reference ond moking plons for their new lives. They've reoched o point where they know their own Iimitotions. Some begin to feel os though the whole process is storting over. They ore once ogoin ot o ploce of chonge, ond they're unsure but ideolistic. CHANGE - It hoppens to everyone. 74 lllndlviduals x A TH9BH1'lLCagG?AT Elgggllll INDIVIDUALS Individuals I 75 SENIORS Four yeors worth of closses, tests, ond octivities ore drowing to o close. We, os Seniors, look bock constantly ot this lost yeor ond try to copture moments we wont to remember forever. There ore mixed feelings of hoppiness ond confusion mingled with coses of senioritis. The gool of o college degree hos been ochieved, but by meeting thot gool, we ore leoving behind ctll thot we hove held deor for so long. We continuolly strive onword, seeking new gools, content with our post ond hoppy with our memories of college life ond the influence it will olwoys wield in our lives. Seniors - o finol chopter in one sense, but it is the opening of o lifetime oheod. Chollenges foce us os we strive to moke o go of it in on inflotionory ond unemployment-stricken world. R Lelond JUNIORS As a Junior we have reached a constant state of anticipation. We've succeeded in forming the base of our college education. We have chosen a major and moved in active pursuit of that goal. In one more year we will have the long desired degree in hand. For the present, we'll attend classes, enjoy the lifetime friends we've acquired, and dream of the day when we'll reach the status of Senior. We've given a lot of time and effort to this college, and the end result has been a true feeling of belonging. X We faced 1983 with great anticipation: we'll face 1984 with that same anticipation mixed with fear! We look forward to our lost year at BCC but secretly feel the gnaw of the reality of life in our stomachs. Juniors - one step away from ending our college careers. We seek to prepare for what lies ahead of us. Each day brings new awareness of the pressures of life itself. Maybe we will fail in our endeavors to achieve, or maybe we will make it. We can only strive for the best and give it all we have! CLASS 0F 1984 'b. We've all begun to wonder if college is the only kind of life that exists. Classes seem interminable, basic courses seem endless, and graduation is only a fantasy in our minds. There are some advantages to being a Sophomore. We've finally got the campus, with its many offices, figured out. And though we'll never grow accustomed tothe long lines, at least we know to expect them, But there is a lot to look forward to. Next year is our year to plan, and attend, the Junior-Senior. And the following year, when we're a little higher up the ladder, we'll start doing things our way, to make this college a better place for everyone. Yes, being a Sophomore may be dull now, but our minds jostle with eagerness as we anxiously await our turn as Juniors and Seniors. lt won't be long now, and we'll be the leaders of BCC . . . leaders of change, freshness, and a better look for ourselves and our campus. CLASS OF 1986 Some say Freshmen can be spotted a mile away. We have an air of expectancy and confusion about us. We're frustrated by the lines, irritated by the upperclassmen's attitudes toward us, but, above all, we're ready to make an impression. This college is our second home for the next four years, and we want to make it a place we can be proud of. We will do all we can to make it better. , Divided by the thrill of being our from under our parents' wings and the agony of being under the wings of professors, we still aren't sure whether we will stick it out or not. One thing is certain, being a Freshman is a lonely world, and it will not be soon enough before it is over. Hafiz Karim Abdul Lyndon P. Abrams Dawn Adams Abd. Jalil Ahmad T1 l 'o 6 4 . ,.,v .. They aid in establishing relationships, developing a rapport with others, and working side by side for a common goal. They also encourage the growth of attributes that aid in life ofter college, the most important of which is leadership. Leadership -- that elusive and enigmatic quality that everyone tries to attain during their life. Leadership is based on unselfish motives, a genuine affection for the work at hand, and confidence in oneself and others. Maintaining cooperation in others while retaining their friendship and respect is a true art. Other than just being a learning experience, clubs are pure fun!! They offer interesting activities that no class ever could. Friendships made are based on similar ideals, and relationships like that are made to last! 128 f lnV0lV6mef'lf DLVE 1 983 CHARLESTON Involvement I 129 WW' 9 5 'gina 'gm lil Inv 1 ,.
