Baseball '71 Although Banks only boasted a 5 - 23 record, you can look for new and better things from them in the future because the baseballers were playing with the help of just one Senior, Larry Evers, who was voted by the other members as captain. The rest of the Banks High diamond men are Juniors and Sophomores. The Braves started things out right with an 8 - 3 win over Gaston but then hit a drought and lost their next 15 before beating previously undefeated Seaside 1 - 0. Banks, 1 after losing 3 more, dropped Amity 16 - 10 in a wild slugfest. Banks in another drought lost 5 in a row but they broke it with a 9 - 7 win over Dayton. Rounding out the remaining post season honors was Carl Lovelady who got Most Improved and Most Inspirational. During the season, Larry Evers and Ken Kemper led the team in hitting with 20, while John Lam' Evers Bernards finished close behind with 18. P w W L. to r. , back row: Coach Auld, Mark Schmidlin, Tim Vandomelen, Brian Miller, Dean Marek, Ron French, Larry Evers, Sam Meeuwsen, john Bernards. 1st row: Ken Kemper, Frank Ramirez, Carl Lovelady, Gary Gerb, Don Kindel, and Rene Ramirez . 37
