J. V cf: Frosh Basketball The JV Basketballers had a pretty good season this year, winning 14 while only losing 8. Neil Meeuwsen was the team's most consist- ent scorer but Larry Duyck put on a three game surge at the end season where he aver- aged 26.0 points per game. Although only boasting a 4 - 12 season record, the Freshmen basketball team got experience that will be needed in future years in order for Banks to become true com- petitors. Doyle Moore led the team in scor- ing with a 10. 6 Average. Far top right, Neil Meeuwsen's fast breaking style in a lay-up scores , two points for Banks. Wrestling '71 The Braves wrestling team finished their season with a 14 win, '7 loss, and 1 tie record to take 2nd place in league. Firsts by Mitch Reynolds, Lyle Bays, Kevin Kelly, and Jerry Barnes enabled the team to take 2nd in district. District runners-up were Phil Vandehey and Mike Obrist. Banks sent Mitch Reynolds, Lyle Bays, Phil Vandehey, Kevin Kelly, Jerry Barnes, and Mike Obrist to state. Mitch Reynolds, who placed third at 98, was the only one to place at state. Jerry Barnes The JVs finished their season with 6 wins and 7 losses. Lyle Bays had a '7 win and no loss record with 6 of his wins being by pins. Most post season awards went to Jerry Barnes as he was awarded Most Pinning Situations and Most Inspirational.
