A charity line pose. The Flying Mare? ROUNDBALLERS WIN SIXTEEN Bancroft's season record reached a mark of 16 wins and 6 losses. The highlight of the season was the District championship campaign, which proved that the Bulldogs were really best when they captured the first place trophy, enabling them to go on to the Regional Tournament. Two other first place trophies were added to the BHS collection when the Bulldogs won both the Logan Valley Tournament and the Rosalie Invitational Tournament. The 1967-'68 basketball season produced eight let-termen. Reg Roth, who tallied 333 points for an average of 15 points per game; Alan Simonsen, who was selected for the first team Logan Valley All-Conference led in field goal shooting with 45% and averaged 14 rebounds per game; Dale Ruehling, who had the best free throw percentage with 68%; Gene Page Is, who was selected honorary captain; Randy Schilling, Dean Tietz, Joe Sorensen, and Robert Sorensen.  TRACK STARS Coach Phillip Moore, assisted by Darrell Jochum and student trainer, Bob Sorensen, spent many hours preparing the 1968 team for the track; and as a result, seven of the sixteen squad members lettered for their efforts. AlanSimon-sen lettered in the shot put, mile relay, 220-yard dash, and discus; Gene Pagels in the 440-yard dash and the mile relay; John Bring in the mile run; Jim Fuller in the shot put; Dale Ruehling in the high jump, pole vault, 220-yard dash, and the mile relay; and Joel Bring in the two-mile run. The track squad participated in five major track meets this year; Midland Relays at Fremont, Decatur Invitational, the Logan Valley Conference Meet at Wayne, the District Meet at Norfolk, and the State Meet at Kearney. The highlight of the season was when Alan Simonsen, Gene Pagels, Dale Ruehling, Doug Echtenkamp, and Jim Fuller received first place ratings at the District Meet qualifying for the State Meet. Dale Ruehling participates in the broad jump. John Bring, was the mile sprinter.
