SENIOR CLASS PROPHECY One night I had a strange dream, and in this dream I was riding in an airplane. My pal and I were using telescopes to spy on the world underneath us. We started at Bancroft, Nebraska, and made a trip around the world. And as we were floating along we decided to make a landing at Detroit, Michigan. Who did we see but Deraid Bargmann working on the assembly line, in a Ford factory. He told us that in his school days he thought there was no better car than a Chevrolet, but he suddenly changed his mind. OH! Another take-off. Whew, who just zoomed by??? My buddy said it was William Meyer in his new invention, a one man helicopter. We turned and followed him, and landed in New York City. Willy told us his life ambition is inventing. Let's go on to another part of the U. S. What sort of an explosion was that?? We made a landing at Chicago to find out about the explosion. Orland Meske just came out of the cloud of smoke so we naturally asked him what he was doing in it. He informed us that he had become a scientist after serving in the Navy for three years. Up in the air once more. We hired a pilot and are paying him one dollar an hour, that way we both can use the telescopes. I thought I saw a familiar figure, yessir, Harold Sorensen. We thought perhaps he would continue in sports but to our surprise has turned out to be a farmer at Decatur, Illinois. Again we go on. Who is it? Wesley Kolell picking away at the railroad, singing Tve been working on the railroad . Wes says It ain’t no fun . Flying on we make a stop at tile state of Minnesota. Mel Geisler looks pretty steamed up over something, wonder what it is? Mel says, Well what do you expect, alter hauling bundles all day? He tells us that in order to make a living for his family he hauls bundles in summer and scoops snow in the winter. We must be on our way. Could it be a rodeo in Arizona?? We make a landing once more. It was only Reynard Brehmer riding a brahma bull on his ranch. Reynard says there’s nothing to it, and our pilot was ready to try it after his speech, but we convinced him to stay with us as pilot. Whoops, guess we’d better make a landing on California 'cause all we can see is water. Los Angeles was our next tour. Seems to be a giant down on main street. I'd a never guessed it (WASHING WINDOWS) why George Gatzemeyer doesn't even need a step-ladder. Wish I had him as a husband, bet that wife of his doesn't wash windows. On to Hollywood, and we forget about the airplane a while and go to a movie. Marcile Samson appears on the screen. Marcile made her first appearance as a child of Ma and Pa Kettle's. Lets have some music at the Concert Hall. We received programs at the door which stated that Marilyn was first Cornet player. After the Concert we had a little chat with Marilyn, telling us that all her children axe to be Comet players. Not to Washington D.C. to see Harry S. Truman, but to the state of Washington to see General Marvin Gatzemeyer . He tells us that he and Marlene settled down and are going to raise little Generals . They live close to the Pacific Ocean, giving each a chance to jump in after a heavy quarrel. We are again sailing. Let's trail the Red Cross plane that just passed us. It made a landing at Omaha. It's pilot told us he needed fuel. Janice Kessinger stepped out for a little fresh air. We asxed her if she didn't feel well, being on this plane, but she informed us that she gave up the riding of horses and became a WAC. She told us that she and Janet Schilling had gone to the same nursing school. We arrived at the school the two girls had gone to and found where Janet had gone for her occupation. She is one of the greatest surgical nurses ever known. She plans on marrying one of the doctors she is working with. (They should have healthy children). Janet told us we could find Elaine Kjeldgaard in Omaha, too. Shore 'nough we went to the Pathfinder Hotel and found her. She is a professional ice skater and makes tours in the states performing on ice. You should have seen those muscles of hers.
