B.H. . TRACK TEAM I955 Bamberg's '55 track team is the first to ever win the District Championship. Due mainly to the coaching of SAM BUIST and his extra hard work, the Raiders on the cinders made quite a name for themselves. Franklin Frye tied the state record in the 220 yard dash. Lewis Brown won the state shot put title. Jimmy Kinard was a point maker in the 100 and 220 dashes, also a good hurdler. Buddy Tiedeman won first place in the state high jump contest. Buddy was also an excellent 440 runner. Marvin Sandifer captured first place in the District mile run. Tommy Walter was an asset to the team as a distance runner. He went to the state meet too. Leroy Frye picked up some points in various things. Others that produced for BHS were Tomlinson, Bonds, Inabinet, Hiers, ST SMA Bgtx Crider, and Bell, Dallas Lovelace C930 served as the team manager. Clint Morris performed well as a high jumper and runner. Wayne Hughes took first place in the javelin throw and placed in the discus and shot put. The relay team was Morris, Clary, L.
