In order to improve its curriculum to meet the ever- increasing demands of the modern world, the Mathemat- ics Department of the Baltimore City College is constant- ly broadening the scope of its program, improving the methods of teaching it employs, and adding new and diverse courses. Analytics, geometry, algebra, and trigo- nometry constitute a basic part of the program offered to aid City students in their education. The study of all sorts of numerical oddities and intracacies supplements the regular program. Concentrating these courses on thought problems, the Math Department tries to teach Collegians to employ a logical approach to every prob- lem that confronts them. This objective not only helps the students improve their mathematical skills but also prepares them for any other subject which uses logic. Experiments Fulfill Curiosity The important principles and theories of our physi- cal environment are the basis of study in the Baltimore City College Science Department. The presentation of the most modern concepts concerning the nature of the world impresses upon the student the importance of science in everyday life. By offering many varied courses, the Science Department acquaints Collegians with the living things which surround them and with the sub- stances which compose their surroundings. Stressing the use of the scientific method, the department teaches Collegians the importance of approaching problems log- ically. Laboratory exercises and special projects supple- ment the courses and insure a complete understanding of the material under considerationg moreover, interest is promoted by the sponsorship of the City College edition of the National Science Fair. lVhen the City student graduates, he takes with him a fundamental knowledge of science and an understanding of the world in which he lives.
