Education Stimulates The Mind Mr. Young's world history class is shown where the historiral events occurred on the map of Europe. Realizing that decisions of the future are based on experiences of the past, the Social Studies Department analyzes events and changes which governments and civilizations have undergone and applies the conclu- sions to present situations. Such an interpretation of history is designed to be of practical value to the stu- dent and to help him understand the cause and effect which determine the growth of nations. A course in geography balances the program and emphasizes the in- fluence of environment on the economic and cultural evolution of the various areas of the world. A course in modern world problems evaluates present happen- ings and examines our nation's vital role in world af- fairs. By supplementing its program with relative proa jects and effective comparisons, the Social Studies De- partment develops a broad perspective in its students and encourages political awareness needed in every edu- cated citizen. fi f x 5 .
