u 2,1 ,fix In Memoriam . X Q ii DR. CHESTER H. KATENKAMP Born july 28, 1899 Died April 19, 1956 When a student or alumnus thinks of the Baltimore City College from 1948-1956, it is dif- ficult for him to distinguish his memories of the school from those of its beloved principal, the late Dr. Chester H. Katenkamp. His death on April 19, 1956, was a great loss and, at the same time, a tremendous shock to the student body and to all with whom he came into contact during his many years of service to education. Dr. Katenkamp was a man with a mission, to serve and extend education to the youth of Bal- timore and, in particular, to the students of the Baltimore City College, from which he himself graduated in 1915. He knew well the problems and desires of City's students and was always will- 1 U Dr, Katenkamp receives Class of june 1957 Award for out- standing service to City College from Dr. john H. He was continually striving to extend education to the greatest number of students possible and, at the same time, to open broader educational hor- izons to the students of great ability. Besides being an outstanding educator, Dr. Katenkamp was distinguished as a civic leader, a promoter of interfaith, and a Mason. His life was a diamond with many facets, each reflecting the glory of his multitude of achievements and his dynamic personality. Because of Dr. Katenkamp's passing this way, the world and, especially, the Baltimore City College are much richer and better.
