li juniors take notes in U.S. History. Experimentation Several Contemporary Problems and United States History classes initiated a new approach during the first quarter of this year. The new program was shown to be successful in eliminating a large amount of repetition in the courses. It involved the team-teaching of Mr. Tjaden, Mr. Creighton, and Mr. Kourkoumelis. This approach allowed the teachers to specialize in one aspect of teaching, to group the students according to ability and let them work at their own speed, and to reexamine departmental subject matter for more effective instruction, Grading method was one of the major changes incorporated into the new system. Under this, there were only three possible grades that a student could receiveg A, incomplete, or withdrawal. To measure the value of this new approach, its results may be compared to those achieved by the majority of the teachers who continue to instruct in the popular method. This approach was experimental, but if the school system has access to the additional teachers, time, and funds which were found to be required to maintain the individual instruction needed, it will be tried again.
