Fifteen of these candidates were destined to receive commissions in the ROTC at the end of the OCS course. Assisted by Battalion Commander Benny De La Rosa, Captain Welch makes a close inspection of the candidates' uniforms and hearing. These Cadets finished highest in standing in five leadership qualifications tested in the OCS. f 1 Cadet Charles McClelland receives his Commission to the rank of Cadet Second Lieutenant from Mr. Frank Vollert, vice-principal, who was the honored dignitary at the special com- missioning ceremony. 5780122 7 X QI' 0I'I2?.S' The Pershing Rifles Drill Team performs fancy drill as it escorts the Color Guard of the Ball High ROTC in the flag-raising ceremony at Pub- lic School Stadium before the Texas City game. This was the first appearance of the Drill Team since its incorpo- ration in the National Order of Pershing Rifles this term, and it was quite successful. Pershing Rifles commander is Benny De La Rosa. W O. 7 G CgGQfS Tired hut happy. the ROTC re- turns to Galveston on one of the Corps' two chartered buses to Port Arthur. The Battalion con- tributed greatly to the school spirit at the Port Arthur game, and the Cadets cheered the Tors on to victory. Most Cadets were hoarse for a week from the ef- fort! geyf 790122 Zrzhys jlgnors jfyme The ROTC Rifle Team was undefeated in its matches with Gulf Coast schools. Houston schools did not win a match against the victorious team. Members of this great team are, from left, Howard Northcutt, Bernard Heer, Gary Burns, Martin Cuillot, and H. J. Mathis.
