Fifteen of these candidates were destined to receive commissions in the ROTC at the end of the OCS course. Assisted by Battalion Commander Benny De La Rosa, Captain Welch makes a close inspection of the candidates' uniforms and hearing. We ers fo Ze Gommzkszbn eff The fifteen candidates who fin- ished highest in OCS grades stand ready at a special ceremony to receive their long-awaited com- missions to the rank of Cadet Second Lieutenant. These Cadets finished highest in standing in five leadership qualifications tested in the OCS. f 1 Cadet Charles McClelland receives his Commission to the rank of Cadet Second Lieutenant from Mr. Frank Vollert, vice-principal, who was the honored dignitary at the special com- missioning ceremony. The Junior Drill Team, the or- ganization of which took place only this year, is serving as a training ground for prospective Pershing Rifles Drill Team members. ln order to gain mem- bership in the Pershing Rifles, it is necessary to be proficient in not only regular but fancy drill. ln most cases, it is expedi- ent to serve with the Junior Team first. Commander of the Junior Drill Team is Cadet Cap- tain Robert Mullins, and Assist- ant Drill Instructor is Cadet Sergeant First Class James Finger.
