The Junior Drill Team, the or- ganization of which took place only this year, is serving as a training ground for prospective Pershing Rifles Drill Team members. ln order to gain mem- bership in the Pershing Rifles, it is necessary to be proficient in not only regular but fancy drill. ln most cases, it is expedi- ent to serve with the Junior Team first. Fifteen of these candidates were destined to receive commissions in the ROTC at the end of the OCS course. Assisted by Battalion Commander Benny De La Rosa, Captain Welch makes a close inspection of the candidates' uniforms and hearing. These Cadets finished highest in standing in five leadership qualifications tested in the OCS. f 1 Cadet Charles McClelland receives his Commission to the rank of Cadet Second Lieutenant from Mr. Frank Vollert, vice-principal, who was the honored dignitary at the special com- missioning ceremony.
