MODERN DANCE Jumping leotards might best describe the Modern dancers who work under the super- vision of Mrs. Grace Wheeler throughout the months of January and February. Each class, consisting of 15 participants, concentrates on composing an original dance and perfecting their required routine, which is common to all. The routines are an attempt to interpret moods by means of various body movements. This year, the Senioris dance, re-enacting the story of Pocohantas, was awarded first place on Intramural Nite. Points are scored on execution, originality and talent. The Sen- iors, as winners, repeated their performance in Sportsnite. Kloberg. the tumblers developed the spec- tacular stunts which delighted their audience on Intramural Nite, February 11. Each class presented its stunts on the four types of apparatus used - horse, parallel bars, balance beam, and mats. When the final scores were tallied, I X ! ii' I . 91 V' i i . 1 the Juniors were first, Sophomores second, and Freshmen third. Responsible for taking attendance, judging try- outs, and the general co-ordination of their class were the captains: senior Joan Seifert. junior Ann Aronson, sophomore Carole Mohrenne, and fresh- man Marilyn Conway. TAP CLUB 'LMr. Tap-toe could very well be the theme song of the sixty girls who make up tap club. During the months of January and February each class, under the direction of Mrs. Wheel- er, was busy perfecting its original and re- quired routines. Naturally, the choice of a song was all-im- portant. The seniors apparently made a wise one, as their dance to Blues in the Nightw won top honors lntramural Nite. The Fresh- men tapped to t'It Had To Be Youf, the Sopho- mores Five-Foot-Two, and the Juniors Sunny Side of the Streetf' 53 7 They Dance Along
