Although at times during the year the editors threatened to leave space for doodling if reporters didn't hand in stories, the f Ns X SHE' GGLDE WAV cvfl' The job of turning a group of green reporters into professional journalists was successfully ac- complished by Mrs. Laurence Prendergast, the ad- visor. Veteran photographer Howard Tuwiner was joined by Robert Schwab and Paul La Rocque in working for picture perfection. The discovery of Helen Johnson and Evelyn Kissinger to join the long line of successful WAVE, cartoonists filled the last gap in the staff line-up. ln the spring several members of the Journalism Class attended the Columbia Scholastic Press Con- news-gatherers came through with their articles and averted the utragedyf, vention and afterwards, toured the HHerald Trib- une building. F. H. A. Preparations underway for the many banquets held at BHS were a familiar sight this year. Preparing and serving these dinners were the members of the F.H.A. These enterprising future homemakers raised money by selling cakes and showing movies. The future homemakers again put their talent to good use when they made stuffed toys to brighten the lives of children stricken with cerebral palsy. Officers for this year were Margot Heis- senbuttel, President, Virginia Soule, Vice- President, Ann Mott, Secretary, Ioan Lundgren, Treasurer, Barbara Caudreau, Historian, Betty Cogarty and Patricia Gil- lespie, Reporters, and Betty Lou Khoury, Song Leader. cT'aces 'Qr 7 N. Cramps, PHOTOGRAPHY CLUB Ever wonder what goes on in a dark- room? Any one of the hardworking shut- terbugs of the Photography Club could have answered your question. With the help of their advisor, Mr. Hirnig Howard Tuwiner, President, and Nancy Ailman, Secretary-Treasurer, the club members learned the finer points of picture taking, developing, and enlargement. They listened to lectures concerning photography tech- niques, went on field trips, and entered their Hmasterpiecesv in displays. This club proved to be an asset to both the Nexus and Colden Wave by taking pic- tures of the various activities to be used in those publications. '1 '1 4.3 ccCanC6!!6d ITI Redv F. Elmer, P. Lithgow, R. Montgomery, STAMP CLUB Don't throw away that envelope, was a common utterance heard at the meetings of one of the school's newer organizations, the Stamp Club. The club ofiicers were Rolf Mahler, President, Richard Stober, Vice President, William Eckert, Treasurer, and Lynn Wilcox, Secretary. The clubis advisor, lllr. Reilly, who takes a keen interest in stamp collecting, guided the club through- out a successful program for the year. The club was run on a social basis, with the meetings held at the homes of the mem- bers. Guest speakers, talks by the members, and swap sessions highlighted the meetings. A. Ackerman, R. Mahler, D.
