libs batsuma Home Economics Department A . This is the first year that Vocational Home Economics has been taught in the Baldwin County Agricultural School, and we feel that we have made such a success that people are realizing more and more its importance. The hrst semester we studied sewing, house decorating, re-finishing of furniture and arrangement of furniture in the home. The last semester we learned to cook, plan and serve meals and studied the relation of foods to health. One very important phase of our work was our good health talks. VVe weighed and measured the school children and went into the different rooms and tafked upon the subject of fresh air, clean teeth and plenty of fresh milk until we hope to find all students up to standard next year. Of course, Gladys Jewell and Dorothy Soesbe are the best biscuit makers and Mae Terrell and Ferne Cole the best seamstresses, but we are all in- terested in the work and hope to have as good a teacher next year and to make more progress when we shall be in our new rooms. E E E E A The fbatsuma E Parodq on The Editors Quest Apologies to Will Carleton M Our English teacher sat in her room, her countenance furrowed with care, Her mind at the bottom of business, her feet on the round of a chair, Her chair-arm an elbow supporting, her right hand upholding her head, Her eyes on her paper-covered desk, with different compositions spread: There were fifty long pages from Seniors, with underlined mistakes in red Therewere short discussions from juniors, discussing what some great man said S There were descriptions from the Sophomores, describing large cities and harbors, And a stray gem from Loretta, the Senior, telling of a couple of robbers, There were several long compositions with names telling whom they were by, Debating on some great historian who had done nothing worse than die. She glanced at the clock and took up a pencil and started to Work For she was one of those teachers that had long ago learned never to shirkg And 'tis thus with her noble profession and thus it will ever be stillg There are some who appreciate her labors, and some who perhaps never Will.
