Miss Eloise Nelson, DEAN OE GIRLS, resumed her responsibilities. She guided the girls having serious problems, kept a special attendance file, acted as Scholarship Chairman, and handled the selections of other awards presented to the Seniors. E' ,. ye' 1'ii nf ftWW Mr. Glendon Rodgers Mr. Glendon Rodgers, last year ele- vated to the distinct position of DEAN OF STUDENT ACTIVITIES, kept Bakers- field High School running smoothly. In- cluded in his many responsibilities were coordinating student activities, serving as a member of the principal's adminis- trative staff, and assisting in the publica- tion of the Driller Way. Throughout his career as a teacher and counselor, Mr. Rodgers' interests were also attracted to the writing of text books. Mr. Herbert Martin, in charge of administra- tive services, was assisted by two former counselors. Mr, Kenneth Robeslcy super- vised the curriculum, and Mr. Carl Berra handled the pupil-personal services. uden M advice 0 guidance. ss Miss Bonnye Deal Bonnye Deal was the DIRECTOR OF TESTING at Bakersfield High School. She devoted her time and efforts to plan- ning and administering the tests given to the students. Miss Deal supervised the administration of aptitude, vocational- interest, and achievement tests. She also gave individual tests for special counsel- ing problems. The SUPERVISOR OF ATTENDANCE AND WELFARE at Bakersfield High School was Elwood Leapley. Mr. Leap- ley worked for the well-being of the stu- dents in many ways. He was responsible for keeping undesirable people from our campus, issuing parking permits, and assisting with the testing. The role oi the COUNSELING STAFF was a dual one. As advisors, counselors helped students arrange schedules ac- cording to their individual abilities and suggested extracurricular activities best suited to their interests. Guiding students toward graduation with job placement information and college entrance re- quirements were important parts of their tasks.
