Thorough basic instruction in reading, writing, and speaking 'Foreign languages was otiered by the FOREIGN LANGUAGE DEPARTMENT. Courses were provided to suit each stuclent's needs and preterences. Three years each ot Spanish. French and Latin were ottered, and a tirst year course in German was reinstated atter a year's absence from the curriculum. These studies, which were given primarily to tultill college entance requirements, also helped students to understand and appreciate the cultures and histories ot toreign peoples.
