Juniors and Seniors were taught the appreciation of literature and given actual experience through the writing of' compositions. The departments that have followed the programs prescribed by the State Board ol' Education are the Mathematics, Foreign Language. and Natural Science. Oil Teclmology has been taught this year for the first time in the Natural Science Department. In the Social Science Department the Constitution Examination, given in third year classes. was changed from first semester to second. Six weeks of the second semester were devoted to the study of government, two months were given to the study of current American problems. The Business Education and Drawing Departments are looking ahead. The former hopes to have an office practice room to accommodate the increasing number of students in the course. First and second year drawing students have little choice of courses, but third and fourth year students will soon find it po'sible to choose a course enabling them to prepare for their respective careers. - Students of the Mechanical Arts Department carried off' fi st prize sweepstakes at the State Fair for the fifteenth consecutive year. They worked like deck hands to make the evening a success and were well rewarded with an exceptionally large turnout. School spirit is the hyword ot' these students. They sold more Inter-class Track Meet tickets than any other class. then presented to the Junior Class a banner for winning the annual meet. Mixing business with pleasure. the council held a dinner party in the spring. Here they selected a group ot' class rings which were later voted on by the entire class. The voting took place in March, but the Sophomores will not have their rings until the beginning ot' next semester. r7'np,t Sophomore otlieers decorate for class dance. Those seem to be the by-words ol' our up-and-coming Thcspians. for they have doubled their membership and are really going after dramatic honors. Seeking to make the stage one ot' the highlights ot' the curriculum. they cast and produced the side-splitting comedy. Suitable for Charity. Since talent abounds in the organization. this dramatic bit was staged in a professional manner a credit lo all members. Initiation ol' Cellar Gang members brought consternation and suspense as the fatal hour approached. Then the old members took pity on the new. and everyone had a hilarious time putting the novices through various initiatory rites. Striving to make the better things ol' the theater felt and appreciated. not only among themselves but over the entire campus. these students have made strides beyond all preceding years. In addition to regular games, high grades ill posture and hygiene tests were included in the awarding of points. Two years ot' active work in the G. A.
