Qin SGPHGMQBES Fifty-one Freshrnen in the year l935 became by a miracle ct tiietarriorphosis, titty-one Sophomores. Although they were considered reinarkably tree trorn the conf ceit usually attributed to Sophornores, they can, nevertheless, point with pride to several things. The success ot this was due to the constitution coininittee ol Boberta Schmidt as chairrnan, Sally Miller and Bernice Moe. Six Sophoiriores niade the Torch Society. The students who were initiated were Betty Kibble, Sally Miller, Eileen Douglas, Ebo Okazaki, Takashi Salcuiria and Gordon Tracy. The Sophoinore girls gave one ot the outstanding song as- semblies presented this year. Bach one participating made it a success by putting into it her best efforts. The Sophomore Boys gave Cf morning assezzibly in May. The Sophornores gave an enjoyable party, having as their guests, Mr, and Mrs. Towne. lUNl0B CLASS After a successful year, the lunior Class has rnade itself known and valued to the rest of the school by its fine participation in school affairs. ln every field the luniors have had capable repre- sentatives. Bill Gilrnore was the able Vicefpresident of the A. S. B. Mary- alice Oliver, Lois Lidral, Mary Hayashi, and Barbara Arnold were effective in the Girls' Club Cabinet. The Torch carried six luniors, Billie Welfare, vice president, Barbara Arnold, secretary, Arthur Koura, Lois Lidral, Yaiko Yarnashita, and lacaueline Cain. On the newspaper staff were Maxine Darby, Billie 'Welfare George l-food and Frank Koba. Art Koura was secretary and Dominick Svornich chairrnan of athletics of the Boys' Club. ln athletics a nurnber of luniors participated and inany won letters. The ranks of the glee club, orchestra and school drarnatics were well filled with luniors. T. A, sponsored. An issue of the school paper was published by an allelunior staff, A tolo party was held with the Seniors. The luniors also dec- orated for cornrnenceinent. All considered, the class of '37 has proven itself cornpetent and worthy of undertaking the duties and 'ldignity of the Senior Class. Page Eighteen

-mia 'AA' NINTH GRADE The class of '4U prospered greatly this past year under the advisorship of Miss Marshall and Mr. Morley, Prom green students they have grown to promising citizens, accomplishing many new feats. Perhaps the most original is the Ereshman paper, made by, for, and about freshmen. They are also keeping a scrapbook of all their class activities. We find the girls have adopted a creed, Very clever these girls, leading their class by presenting plays and skits, for the entertainment of all.
