ALTHOUSE Lieutenant Commander ALTHOUSE assumed his duties as Exe cutive Officer in Guam, Marianas Islands during BADGER's second deployment. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Acade- my in 1962 with a bachelor of science degree and his com- mission. He served at sea on the USS STODDARD QDD-5665 and as Commanding Officer of the USS EXCEL fMSO-43 93, and as aide and flag lieutenant for Commander US SEVENTH Fleet. He has served ashore at the U. S. Naval Academy and received his master of science in electrical engineering and ordnance engineering from the U. S. Naval Postgraduate School. LCDR ALTHOUSE wears the Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy Commendation Medal with Combat V, and numerous unit, service and campaign medals. LCDR ALTHOUSE has developed and expanded the internal workings of the ship through several fleet exercises, an ex- tended deployment and most recently her homecoming. He has established a measure of stability and purpose in BAD- GER's daily routine. Lieutenant Commander COLUCCI was the Executive Officer of the USS BADGER fDE-10715 from 15 Sep- tember 1972 to February 11, 1974. He graduated from U of Miami fOhioy., receiving his commission through the NROTC program. He served on the USS OGLETHOPE QAKA-1001 and USS WALLACE L. LIND fDD-'703y, as an Aide to Commander Cruiser- Destroyer Flotilla SIX and as a company comman- der at the U.S. Naval Academy. LCDR COLUCCI wears the Navy Commendation Medal with several area and campaign medals. LCDR COLUCCI directed and oversaw the internal relations of the ship through an extended restricted availability, the homeport shift to Pearl Harbor, two allied operations and the first half of BADGER's second deployment. He added 21 certain dash and flavor to BADGER's daily events during difficult periods.

COMMANDER ROBERT S. MALONE Commander MALONE was the Commanding Officer of the USS BADGER from 26 June 1972 to 8 January 1974. He graduated from Duke University and after Officer's Candidate School received his commission in January 1958. He served on the USS NEW QDDE-818y, USS STORMES QDD-7805, USS JOUETT QDLG-295, USS BUCHANAN QDDG-141 and on the staff of Command Destroyer Flotilla CNE. He re- ceived his bachelor of science in mechanical engineering at the Naval Post graduate School. He has further attended the Defense Language Institute and served in the Politico-Military Policy Division. Commander MALONE has received the Bronze Star, Navy Commendation Medal with Combat V and two gold stars in lieu of subsequent awards. Cap'n MALONE guided BADGER through half of her maiden deployment and operations off the coast of Vietnam, and an extended restricted availability in which BADGER was converted to Navy Distilate Fuel, LAMPS Helicopter and Squadron Flagship accommodations. He oversaw BADGER's shift from her old homeport of Long Beach to Hawaii, and subsequent preparations for deployment. Commander MALONE led BADGER through two combined allied exercises, RIMPAC-'73 and MIDLINK-'73, and the first half of BADGER's last deployment.
