The USS BADGER QDE-10715, of the KNOX class of ocean escorts, is named in honor of four men of the BADGER family who served the Navy over more than a century. BADGER is designed to locate and destroy enemy submarines. She may operate as a unit of a hunter killer group, screen other ships or formations, patrol coastal Waters, or escort military con- voys. The outstanding men who make up BADGER's crew are dedicated to this mission of BADGER. This second cruise book highlights the men and events of BADGER's second de- P10y1nent into the Western Pacific. He served on BADGER for two years as a Machinist Mate, but he is remembered as a quiet concerned friend. Jeff was a real part of this crew. He shared the long hours and disappointments. He laughed and enjoyed the good times too. There is a unique thing about a Destroyer in that each man becomes an essential t f par o the whole. When the crew loses a member, the ship suffers and the man is sorely missed. The BADGER remembers her men. We remember Jeff.
