Sol M. Linowitz Sol. M. Linowitz, chairman of the board of the Xerox Cor- poration and vice chairman of the board of trustees of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, delivered the principal address at the forty-seventh annual com- mencement exercises Sunday afternoon June 12, 1966. He was also presented an honorary Doctor of Laws degree by Dr. Wilson F. Payne. Mr. Linowitz has been a leading figure in Xerox, growth and development since 1947, notably as chief architect of the patent and licensing structure and in guiding the company's international negotiations and arrangements. Xerox, from the Creek for dry writingv, started in 1947 when rights were purchased from a patent lawyer for Sl0,000. plus a royalty arrangement.
