FOUN E 'S DAY Babson Institute is one of the few schools out of the several thousand who celebrate Foundefs Day with the founder still living. As the upperclassmen know, last year,s Foundefs Day was highlighted by the attendance of Mr. Babson who, at that time gave an inspiring speech on the growth and development of students. Unfortunately Mr. Babson could not be with us for his day this year. Babson Institute is awarding an Honorary Doc- tor of Laws degree this year to Mr. VVarren Randolph Burgess. Mr. Burgess has long been known for his contributions to the American scene and his efforts in seeking world peace and harmony. Our speaker is the former United States Am- bassador to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization and a former under-secretary of the United States Treasury. Among some of his many community and business activities may be listed the following: Vice- president of the New York Federal Reserve Bank, 1936-38, Chairman of the Executive Committee, Na- tional City Bank of New York, 1948-52, Chairman of the Board, City Bank Farmers Trust Company, di- rector of Discount Corporation, International Bank- ing Corporation, and, National City Safe Deposit Company. Mr. Burgess is a director of the Atlantic Council and is a former chairman of the Atlantic Treaty Association, 1963.
