This year brought something new to Babson in the way of varsity sports, an organized basket- ball conference. The name of the new conference is the Dr. James Naismith Intercollegiate Basket- ball Conference, named after the founder of the game. Being a member of this league should bring to Babson more interest and enthusiasm in the game as well as badly needed school spirit. The Beavers compiled a win-loss record of one and nine in this league against such teams as Cordon, Barrington, Bryant, St. Francis, and Nasson, which gave them a last place standing. At the end of the season an all-star team was named and a benefit game played between the outstanding ballplayers of each team and Bryant College, who were league champs. Bob King was named to the second all-star team and also par- ticipated in the benefit game along with Stan Briggs and Brian Barefoot. The season got underway with the Babson Invitational Tournament in early December. Babson won its first game against Nathanial Hawthorne but lost the next two to finish in fourth place. Even with the fourth place finish, Babson was able to place two men on the all- tournament team, Stan Briggs, second team, and Iohn Fields, first team. With such returning lettermen as Most Valuable Player-Bob King, Rick Heller, and Mike McCoy as well as the addition of new tal ent, the ,67 season will prove to be more satisfy ing to loyal Babson basketball fans.
