Another One for Him The end of the beginning. This phrase can properly describe the 1980 version of Azusa Pacific Volley- ball. A team which had been building itself for the past four years culnni- nated its rise to the top by bringing home the NAIA National Volleyball Championship, and finishing runner- up in the AIAW National tourna- ment. The success of the team can be attributed to many things, among them being hard work, strong team unity, and great support from the entire college community. However, the most influential ingredient of the successful year was the placing of Jesus Christ as the center of the team. As talented as the team was, they were able to go even farther because of their determination to please God and to let Him guide their path. Indeed, it was Another One For Him. A great deal of the credit for the suc- cess of the team has to go to Coach Alane LeCrand and her assistant, Jim Ciacomazzi. The coaches were able to provide the spiritual leadership the team needed, as well as instilling the drive and determination in the players to play their best and give everything they have for Jesus Christ. For the job she did. Coach LeCrand was deservedly named NAIA National Volleyball Coach of the Year. The Azusa Pacific Volleyball team was not without its individual honors either, but these honors were brought forth by a group of players playing together as a team. This material success, however, cannot be compared with the growth made in the players lives from being associ- ated with the team. The end has come from a volleyball standpoint at APC for seniors Debbie Meche and Becky Goodman. Future success now lies on the shoulders of the younger team members. And though the 1980 season will be remembered for many things, it will always stand out as being Another One For Him.
