Students Expand Culture This department seeks to equip the student for his duties as a citizen. Specifically, it seeks to enable the student to acquire an understanding and appreciation of the culture of the past, to critically evaluate current trends in the light of the past, and to understand the role of the individual in these changes. The department seeks also to give instruction that will provide background and skill prelim- inary to graduate study. Instruction is provided that w aid the student in professions such as government serv- ice, teaching, law, diplomatic service, social service, and the Christian min- istry. The interdisciplinary character of Political Science is significant for professional training such as pre-law, entrance into civil service or into local government as a city adminis- trator, or as a preparatory course of study prior to training for the diplo- matic corps.
