Profile: Barry L. Ross This is Dr. Ross ' second year at APC. Many students see him as a very knowledgeable old testament professor, and rightly so. But there is more to him than meets the eye. Dr. Ross has spent most of his life on the East Coast, living in New York State for twenty-one years, receiving his Doctorate from Drew University in Madison, New lersey, and teaching in Pennsylvania for seven years. He has also traveled abroad, to Japan and India, where he served as a Missionary teacher. In 1963 Dr. Ross studied at the institute of Holy Land studies in Israel, where he participated in a week-long archaeological Dig. Since then. Dr. Ross has been back to Israel twice, both times participating in a dig at Tell Aphek, the site of an ancient city dating back to 2000-1500 B.C. His major find was a small scarab, a beetle-shaped Egyptian Seal. Dr. Ross also teaches a course in ancient near eastern history. Business Department Prepares Students for Business World Business students at Azusa Pacific College are confronted with numer- ous opportunities fronn the day they enter classes as freshmen, through- out their undergraduate years, and extending beyond to work careers. This division offers a theoretical and applied preparation in two major areas: accounting and business administration. Both programs require four years of specialized courses and projects designed to assure professional readiness. The accounting program leads into work assignments in local C.P.A. firms in the junior and senior years: the combination of classroom theory and actual experience prepares can- didates for the Certified Professional Accountant Examination adminis- tered by the various State Boards of Accountancy in the United States. The business administration program offers studies in managerial theories and concepts. In the junior and sen- ior years, students are enrolled in an intern program with local businesses, which provides income and awards college credit. Rounding out the opportunities are student sponsored activities of the Accounting Club and first college chapter of the National Management Association. In addition, the division has for years aided seniors and gradu- ates in job placement through matching of job opportunities with interested students. Left to Right: Chairman Waiter A.
