Profile: Barry L. Ross This is Dr. Ross ' second year at APC. Many students see him as a very knowledgeable old testament professor, and rightly so. But there is more to him than meets the eye. Dr. Ross has spent most of his life on the East Coast, living in New York State for twenty-one years, receiving his Doctorate from Drew University in Madison, New lersey, and teaching in Pennsylvania for seven years. He has also traveled abroad, to Japan and India, where he served as a Missionary teacher. In 1963 Dr. Ross studied at the institute of Holy Land studies in Israel, where he participated in a week-long archaeological Dig. Since then. Dr. Ross has been back to Israel twice, both times participating in a dig at Tell Aphek, the site of an ancient city dating back to 2000-1500 B.C. His major find was a small scarab, a beetle-shaped Egyptian Seal. Dr. Ross also teaches a course in ancient near eastern history. V Dr. Ross plans to return to the Holy Land this summer, as coordinator of a college-credit study tour. Les Blank takes a moment to Pause and Reflect.
