Jor ckai c oijiumAan WaikCLon d a-da CkLon Rock of Ages Traditions are found on almost even, college campus in America. But at A. PC, traditions are often lost or for- gotten. The Rock is one such tradi- tion. On February 20, 1967, an old granite tombstone uith the school emblem engraved upon it was purchased by the sophomore class for their student project. Cementing this -400-600 pound svmbolic stone in front of Turner Cam- ■ Iter uas the original idea. But e disappeared shortK before it Stalled. So started the tra- f ' Rock. Since tne time of its first disappear- ance, many clubs and individuals have desired to own the Rock of Ages. Due to some ot)N.ious reasons rules had to be drawn concerning the han- dling of the stone. 1. Area where the Rock mav be hid: Hillside campus, or aliev campus. 2. It must be hid on school property. ( 0 PRI ATE property:). 3. At least the words Azusa Pacific College must be showing at all times. It can not be hidden in any building or under any roof. 4. It must be shown bv its owner at least four times during the academic ear, including once at the beginning of the vear and once during Home- coming. 5. Should the Rock end up in the hands of a graduating senior, the loca- tion of the Rock will be auctioneci off at the end of the vear. The pro- ceeds w ill go towards the student pro- ject for that vear. 6. Any breaking of the stated rules will be punished by the Rock being returned to its previous owner. With the sale of Hillside campus, A.S.B. will need to make amends. Over the vears the Rock has been found in manv peculiar places, includ- ing the Chino State Prison, the houses ' of several A.P.C. professors, other schools, and plowed up in a farmers ' field. o matter where the rock is now the mystery of when it will appear lingers on.
