role of the student newspaper here at APC? rhc Newspaper: What exactly is the role of the student newspaper at PC While we hardly think people are losing sleep over this uestion, it is legitimate nonetheless; students here inde- (Ctly pay for the printing of the paper, and even provide little spending money besides for those of us who work I put it out every week. Elsewhere on this page, the members of the Editorial oard — major editors on the newspaper staff that 3Cide policy and also editorial opinions (among other lings) — have chosen this week to express their own loughts on this matter. We want you to know where we ' re coming from, right om the beginning. That way, there should be few sur- rises. Yet we also want you to see the faces behind the ames and unseen work necessary to bring this mes- ige to you. We hope that yo will realize that we are udents just like you, who pay bills like you. and go into 3bt to do it. just like you. So why all this now? Well, this semester, much like our SB Council, the editorial staff here is very different. We 3ve old staff members in charge of new things. And this is where you really come in. You see, we are really serious about our work. Now for 5, that doesn ' t mean that we are going to start being like le L.A. Times: we figure you already know here to find lat sort of thing. However, what other newspaper really touches the PC campus like we can? Therefore, we need your help, ery badly. And it won ' t cost you any more money or lything. Honestly. We want you to tell us what you want from us in the 3xt few weeks. Really. You effectively own our little aeration, and we think you deserve no less than what Du want. So not only are we saying that we want your Dinions, but we MUST HAVE THEM. There is no other ay for us to know when we do well or poorly. So in the next few weeks, scribble out a few comments id we ' ll read them carefully and honestly. Specifically, you can drop them in the campus mail to ox 5504 just like a note to anyone else. We will do all lat we can to move in the directions you point. Just remember to point. Dan Danhauser: EDITOR As Students committed to serving other students, we must — more than anything else — inform, entertain, and edify our readers. Plus, we must also serve as a cata- lyst for the entire APC community — especially the students — m which we can look at ourselves more realistically. Mike Wilson: DESIGN EDITOR ■| think The Clause should be a professional publication, that reports all the news openly, fairly, and accurately. Often it is hard for a student publication to report both sides of an issue fairly, but I think The Clause is striving to reach that end in order to serve students better ' Robert Beers: MANAGING EDITOR I think that providing views and ideas that provoke the mind and stir up some emotions is the role of the student newspaper To break down the walls of a sheltered Christian life. APC Reaches the New Song Under the direction of Linda Estabrook, New Song has had an excellent year. This group of 32 women went out to share Christ ' s love with people in convalescent hospitals, schools and churches. During the spring vacation they touched many lives through their perform- ances in Arizona. Male Chorale The dedication of the members of Male Chorale is seen in their achievement of excellence in their concerts. Under Phil Shackleton ' s guidance, these men bring the message of the Gospel in contemporary and classical music. This year, the group was complemented by a highly skillful brass and rhythm section.
