John Hart (Assistant Editor) poses outside the Yearbook Office with Mel- issa Shippey (Editor-in-Chief). Yearbook Strives for Uniqueness, The 1981 Yearbook Staff set out at the beginning of the year to make this book better than any book in the history of the school. Some of the changes that were made were discontinuing roommate pictures in the class section. Instead, under the direction of Section Editor Rhea Davis mug shots were used, highlighted by feature stories. Another change that was made was the improvement of sports coverage. Ron Frank saw that more games were cov- ered and that better copy was written to describe the sea- son. Kim Oakley oversaw the Activities section and tried to cover some unique aspects of life at Camp Azusa. Rich Cline worked on the Organizations section to increase club coverage. The entire staff tried to make their copy as exciting and interesting as possible. But most of all under the direction of Melissa Shippey and John Hart the staff tried to cover every aspect of college life, and show why Azusa Pacific is A SPECIAL PLACE. ,mi-r ' m m « v« Yearbook Staff. One of the most active clubs on campus was Fellowship of Christian Athletes. This group met every Thursday morning to share and fellowship with other Christians. It was not a pre-requisite to be an athletes as many assumed. The meetings were a time for bible studies and many times outside speakers came to share their testimony. One of the largest undertakings of the group was their Clothes for Christ drive. Students solicited all over the community for clothes for the needy in Mexico. The project was a large success and many were helped because of it. Individuals often gave their testimonies to schools or other community func- tions. This group was another of Azu- sa ' s outreach attempts to the community and many were rought to Christ through this minisitry. lUO Orgnanizations
