C0UGAR9 PLEASANTLY SURPRISED Coach Clifford Hamlow best described the 1 980 Cougar basketball season as pleasantly surprising, No one expected the team to acquire a record of 25-10, but with the help of seniors Gary Johnson, Jeff Golden, Steve Barnes, John McDonough, and junior, Larry Sheldon, they did reach their goal After advancing to the NAIA District III playoffs they dropped their game 83-81 to Point Loma They proceeded to play in the NCCT regional final and lost it, also to Point Loma There was a season record set for field goals at 520, with Jeff Golden at 544, Larry Sheldon at 543, Gary Johnson at 540, t lil e Anderson at 524, and Steve Barnes at ,492, Coach Hamlow was chosen as District III coach of the year, with an impressive record of 483-297 in 26 seasons . ■-- ' ' ' A . j tt nJH B WKK r H W .
