YA WI OME A D LOSE SOME Another Struggling Season for the Varsity '71 Just Wasn't What We'd Hoped It to Be The Spartans - forseeing a good season with returning letter- men and players from the '70 .IVs didn't quite attain the posi- tion they anticipated. Sparked with the tremendous efforts of the 6 returning letter- men, Dave Crowe, Mark Torgerson, Ed Yoshikowa, Stan Crider, Kevin Rich, and Cpt. Dave Lilley, they were still unable to emerge as top team of the season. This season they banked on a lot of the .IV recruits. Some of the outstanding players were Duane Labes, Fred Pfandl, Larry Miyahara, Ron Dodgen, Dan Dunn and Jay Pushkin. Though they had a weak beginning, the team managed to pull together for a strong finish. Many other hard working and diligent players contributed to the '71 squad.
