The Oracle staff has done a fantastic job of showing a genuine cross-section of the student body and showing the views and opinions of every type of student. AWNS AND P RRIES Under the great coaching or Gordon ttne Gemj Janoswki and President Si Drury, the Awalt Spartan Chess Team made it to the finals in the Los Gatos-Santa Clara Chess League. It was a memorable year for individuals also as both Si Drury and Steve Rosen were rated in the top ten of the league. Si also defeated a brilliant computer in a three hour game. Rod Mosely got a league record by checkmating his opponent in four moves. Every man on Awalt's Chess team had a winning season. K.Chewey, S.Drury, D.Hard, G.Massone, R.Mosely, .l.Pow- ers, S.Rosen, M.Weldon, B.Wissel, King: G..Ianowski. Dawning their fencing apparel and sabers, A- walt's fearless Fencing Cluber's would jab, parry, and slash with the utmost of competitive stimula- tion. The Fencing Club, although lacking quant- ities of members, managed to muster three people to form a club, and thus a picture in the yearbook.
