SPARTAN GYM ASTS SETTLE DOWN TO ORK The use of the Video-Tape machine, a stiff dose of rigorous workouts, and a squad of dedicated young athletes all add up to a winning combina- tion for the Spartan Gymnastics Team. Under the coaching of John Kibbie, the Awalt Gymnasts are put through their paces daily. Criticism is generally self-initiated when the boys see their performances played back on the Video-Tape monitor. Jim Thomas and Linton Salmon are considered to be the team's strongest All Around men. This event requires a good showing of each man in each of the six separate events. Other strong team members are Pete Tiffany, John Tyburczy, Lee Roberts, Art Flynn, Greg Jones, Dean Brooke, and Mike Langdon. How should our boys do? The stiffest competi- tion will come from Homestead but, the team has won its first two meets and Coach Kibbie admits somewhat cautiously, We stand a good chance ofbeing in the League finals.

P RTANS SLUG FOR UCCESSFUL SEASO The Spartan Junior Varsity Baseball team faces a slate of stiff competition this year. All schools in the League are tough. Coach Jerry Gosland is optimistic, however. We're looking forward to a successful year. The boys have tremendous at- titudes and all give 200'Za. Kevin Cronin, Mike Luken, Doug Clawson, Steve Chaney, and Jim DeBusk are expected to do particularly well.
