JU OR VARSITY BASKETBALL T KES SECUNDI LEAGUE The 1970-1971 Junior Varsity Basketball season was as good as one would want short of winning the Championship. At one point in the season the team had racked up ten consecutive wins. The most gratifying aspect of the season was the improvement of individual team members which led to the overall success of the team. Outstanding players who improved the most were Rich Toschi, Larry Rosenthal, and Scott Clarke. An overall analysis of the team can be summed up by saying that hard work, desire, 10096 effort, and teamwork made for a winner. VARSITY BA EBALL HIGH O POTE TI L Even though a record number of Seniors are out for the Varsity Baseball Team, the team lacks experience. But even so, there is a great amount of potential on the squad. Doug Clinkinbeard is one of the best prospects in the infield that Coach Acker has had in a long time. Another player who should develop more is Doug Kneubuhl, who is out for the first time. The Team's strengths lie where there is the most experience-catching, pitching, and out- fielding. Mike Antonoff, retuming Senior, will be catching along with Jeff Hughes, who, adds his good hitting to the team. At pitching, Pat Martin and Mike Yancey should prove to be val- uable. In the outfield Steve Baker adds a great deal of talent and Dan Bayerd, along with his outfielding, is a good hitter. Also because of the depth of the pitching staff, Pat Martin and Mike Antonoff could play the outfield in addition to pitching. According to Coach Acker, hitting is always questionable in high school baseball. But he has at least four players he can count on to hit con- sistently well.
